Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Parents Guide

I was able to screen Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes in order to write this Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.

The next installment of the Planet of the Apes movies delivers everything you have been waiting for. It starts off simple and easy – a village and their life. And there are a few things here and there that spike your anxiety. Maybe 15-20 mins into the movie – everything flips and it rarely calms back down. It keeps you involved in the deepening storyline. There is one thing after the next and it keeps your attention.

The same style that you are used to from the previous 2011-2017 Planet of the Ape movies comes through – tying it to the series perfectly. The new characters introduced will carry the series forward. They are fantastic and you can see as the movie goes on that there is a lot more to them than meets the eye.

The movie runs for about two and half hours – so be sure to grab some snacks, a drink, and use the bathroom before hand – because you won’t want to – and really can’t miss – any of The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes!

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Parents Guide

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence/action. It runs for 2hr 25m.

No end or mid-credit scenes for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Sex & Nudity – 0/5 – Humans in “caveman” style clothing.

Violence & Gore – 3/5 – Several fight scenes between the Apes – use of weapons such as knives, electric zapping sticks, etc. Also “hand to hand” combat where they beat each other. Blood is shown. Weapon wounds (knives protruding out of bodies, etc) are shown. Dead characters are shown (and their deaths). Drowning, falling off high cliffs, strangled. It isn’t “graphic” but does show it all – so be prepared if you are taking younger viewers.

Profanity – 1/5 – 3 uses of shit – all three are actually comical – in a movie that doesn’t have a lot of laugh points.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 0/5 – no use of anything

Frightening & Intense Scenes – 3/5 – Several scenes are intense – especially the fight and chase scenes. A village is burned. Characters are captured and beaten, a character is set on fire (after death).

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a fantastic movie but I would recommend 12+ for this one. The violence is pretty high – with very heavy themes: war, death of family, fighting, violence, etc.
