The Flash parents guide (2023)

I was able to screen The Flash in order to write this The Flash Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.

We just watched the new The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, and others. I have been a little unsure of the movie up to now because of everything that is going on with Ezra. I tried to set that aside for the screening so I could bring you a good review of the movie itself. Overall, I felt like Ezra did a good job as Barry. I LOVED Michael Keaton as Batman once again. He did a fantastic job. It was also fun to see a few other cameos during the movie.

I enjoyed the overall movie and had some laughs and some emotional moments. I was hoping for a more unique or new storyline and I felt like some of the CGI was a little off. But my kids loved it (mostly – the nudity and a few other things were unnecessary and just made everyone uncomfortable). There is a lot to this movie and it just keeps moving. Don’t expect much downtime.

The Flash Parents Guide

The Flash is rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, some strong language, and partial nudity. It runs for 2hr 24m.

There is one end-credit scene for The Flash. Be sure to stay until the end and have another fun bit to watch.

Sex & Nudity – 3/5 – Flash says something about not having sex. The word scrotum is used a couple of times. It says dick (one in reference to manhood and another as a derogatory term). It shows Flash’s clothes on fire so he pulls them off, leaving him naked. It does a side view (with only his bent leg to cover anything) and then shows his butt. It also has Flash holding a small object in front of himself and walking around multiple times. Barry’s roommates are scantily dressed. The girl in a bra and shorts. A man in a t-shirt and underwear. It shows the underwear close up a couple of times – but the focus is supposed to be on a tattoo. Also, The Flash suit is a little tight and accentuates his manhood.

Violence & Gore – 4/5 – Several fight scenes. Some with hand-to-hand, some with weapons, some with electricity. Characters are shown being electrocuted and it is a little disturbing.

Profanity – 3/5 – Several uses of God, OMG, shit, hell, and an F word.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 1/5 – It shows two characters having a beer. Another time a character is seen drinking a shot.

Frightening & Intense Scenes – 3/5 – There are several fight scenes that are intense. The electrocutions are disturbing and frightening. There are people shown stabbed, shot, blown up, electrocuted, and more. Characters die.

Overall I would give The Flash a 6/10. I took a point off for the nudity, one for the roommates, one for the language, and another because I wish it had been more unique. I would solidly say 13+ on this one. There is a lot of language, some disturbing scenes, and the nudity.
