After our stop at Standin’ on the Corner in Winslow on day two of our road trip, we continued east along historic Route 66 and made a quick but memorable visit to the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, Arizona. This classic roadside landmark is one of the most recognizable stops on the Mother Road, and seeing it in person feels like stepping straight into mid‑century Americana. The Wigwam Motel in Holbrook is famous for its row of concrete teepees, each one arranged neatly around the property with vintage cars parked out front. Even if you’re not staying overnight, it’s a fun and nostalgic place to explore for a few minutes.
The motel dates back to the 1950s, and the owners have kept the charm intact. Each wigwam is shaped like a tall, white teepee with a red zigzag pattern near the top, and the old cars scattered throughout the lot make the whole scene feel like a movie set. It’s the kind of place where you can wander around with a camera and instantly find great angles. Our kids loved checking out the classic cars, and the symmetry of the wigwams makes for some really striking photos. It’s one of those stops that doesn’t require much time but gives you a surprising amount of visual interest.

Because the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook sits right off Route 66, parking is easy and the layout is simple to navigate. You can walk the loop around the property, take pictures in front of the wigwams, and enjoy the retro atmosphere. The motel office also has small displays and souvenirs that highlight the history of the property and its place along the famous highway.
For us, this stop added a fun, quirky moment to our day. It paired perfectly with our earlier visit to Winslow and helped break up the drive with something lighthearted and iconic. If you’re traveling Route 66, the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook is one of those classic stops that brings the nostalgia of the road to life.
