Unhinge Hardware Review: Updating the hardware in our house

We bought our house a little over 6 years ago. I can’t believe that it has been that long. I remember when we bought the house, I swore that we were going to replace all of the hardware right away. But after this project, and that project, and everything in between it never got done. Only the main door knob on our front door was ever replaced and even that is about worn out now. Somethings I never thought about were hinges on our doors (that were unbearably squeaky even after some WD-40), the metal brackets for the stair railing, the peep hole on our door, and a few others things. All of the needed to be replaced, but I didn’t realize how bad they were until I got looking at them. I am amazed at how easy it was to go through the house and with the help of my hubby we were able to change out all of the door knobs, hinges are the main doors (even spring loaded ones) the towel ring, toilet paper holders, peep hole with knocker and a few other fun additions that have really made a difference in the look of our house. I have shopped around online and off, and came across a site called Unhinge Hardware. I loved their prices and customer services so we picked out several things that we needed and got them shipped to our house quickly.

I LOVE the color of the Oil Rubbed Bronze door knobs by Citiloc. This is the Marquette style. It has a smooth feel and is a great sturdy knob that will last through all of my children’s machinations. Another feature I love about these knobs is the “key” that you can use to unlock the door if needed (which came in handy when my 5 year old accidentally locked the door and closed it, leaving no one in the room to unlock it). Overall I am really happy with the quality and feel of these.

Another item that we picked was a Avalon Towel Ring i Tuscany Bronze. I love the bronze look and so that is what we got for everything throughout our house. It really changed the look of the bathroom with the Bronze towel ring, door knob, and toilet paper holder. I love the updated feel and how the color pops! Most of the pieces are nice metal and heavy duty. The bar that holds the toilet paper is plastic, but a good quality. We got the Avalon Paper Holders in Tuscany Bronze.

Another piece that we got was the door knocker with viewer in oil rubbed bronze. I love how elegant and nice it looks. (Now I need a new door, or to repaint mine to match how nice it looks). The view works great, I love the field of vision that I have, as well as the nice knocker that is loud and works great. It is a really nice all metal piece that not only look great but I know will last for a long time. The metal has a nice feel to it as well.

We got new decorative handrail brackets. I LOVE the color and the style. They were much needed and really changed the whole look. It now looks fresh and beautiful instead of old and outdated. It is little things like this that I am amazed at how much of a difference it makes in the look of the house.

Another thing that I never really thought about was replacing the hinges on our doors. Our garage door has a set of spring loaded hinges that have always squeaked and squealed since we bought our home. We have tried spraying them but I never really thought about replacing them. As I looked around my house I realized how gross and old they all were. Covered in old paint, rusty looking and most of them were still gold. I really wanted to update them all to the bronze so we got a few sets of them to put in. The regular hinges weren’t a problem getting off and putting on. The old spring loaded hinges were a pain to take off – but the new ones were so easy to install and I love that there is NO NOISE when we open and close our door. It’s great! It looks amazing too. I am surprised at what a difference the hinges make in the look of a room.

Overall I am really happy with the quality of products that we received from Unhinge Hardware. Everything looks great, was easy to install, and completely changed the look of all the rooms in our house. If you are looking for new hardware then unhingehardware.com is the place to go. They have a wide variety of many different items from hinges and door knobs, to towel racks and shower curtain rods.

We’ve got a ton of hardware that could stand to be updated too. I like the ‘after’ color you picked. That’s one I favor too.
