I was able to screen The Marvels in order to write this The Marvels Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.

I went into The Marvels movie not having watched any of the series that preceded this show – but my daughter, who has, filled me in before and after the movie. Overall I really enjoyed the storyline. I thought it was super funny and integrated all of the Marvels (new and old) well into the story. If you have seen Ms. Marvel – you will very much enjoy this movie! Get ready for a fun, entertaining movie that goes well with the MCU timeline.

The Marvels opens in theaters on November 10, 2023

The Marvels is rated PG-13 for action/violence and brief language. It runs for 1hr 45m.

There is one mid-credit scene for The Marvels. It has some animated/stylized credits, and then a mid-credit scene. After that, the credits will start rolling so feel free to head out.

Sex & Nudity –  1/5 – Carol’s dress is a little low cut and the dance is a little sexual (but not really). The whole movie is pretty much clean.

Violence & Gore – 3/5 – Fighting and fictional violence as you would expect from a Marvel movie.

Profanity – 3/5 – 11+ uses of God (OMG), 9+ uses of hell, 3+ uses of shit, 3+ uses of damn.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 1/5 – It does show some drinking – but it’s not prominent.

Frightening & Intense Scenes – (2/5) – There are some fighting scenes that could be intense. A girl falling from the sky. A rush to evacuate a ship before it explodes. People getting eaten by a cat.

The Marvels is a great second movie for Captain Marvel.

About The Marvels:

In Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels,” Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe.

When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”

The film stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Seo-Jun Park, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Nia DaCosta and Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik.
