pressure cooker Spiral Ham
This is one way to make Pressure Cooker Spiral Ham that our whole family really enjoyed. I wanted to cook our spiral ham, but didn’t want to wait for it in the crock pot since I had waited to long to put it in took cook. I didn’t want to use the oven because it would take to long, and so that left me with my pressure cooker. My pressure cooker is something I didn’t know I couldn’t live without. (did that make sense? lol). It has quickly become a crutch for me on busy nights or days when I just need a break. Much like my slow cooker, it lets me fix a meal quickly and easily without a lot of hassle or cleanup. This pressure cooker spiral ham was amazing and it cooked it less than 30 minutes! It takes 18-24 hours for our spiral ham to be this good in the slow cooker!

Pressure Cooker Spiral Ham

Ingredients:

  • Spiral Ham (small enough to fit inside your pressure cooker
  • Brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Take the spiral ham and place it in the pressure cooker.
  2. Add enough water to fill it up about 1/4 of the way
  3. Rub brown sugar all over the outside of the ham
  4. Put lid on pressure cooker and lock it
  5. Make sure your steam release is off (so no steam can escape)
  6. Turn burner to high to build up pressure, (you can tell this because your pressure button will pop, and your steamer will be rocking or making a similar sound)
  7. Once pressure is reached turn heat to med-high and let cook for 30 – 45 minutes, depending on size of the ham.
  8. Turn off heat (and if needed remove from burner).
  9. Depressurize your pressure cooker (read owners manual for best way to do this, but we always just release the steam and wait a few minutes). Be very careful not to remove the lid while under pressure, it will “explode”.
  10. Check the meat to see if it is done and cook for additional time if needed.
  11. Remove ham from pressure cooker and baste with the juice in the bottom
  12. Enjoy!

Hi there! I have an instant pot (that I am fairly new to) and I can’t live without now! I read through your instructions but I am a little unclear about the pressure. Am I setting my instant pot to high pressure until it reaches pressure and then hitting cancel and resetting to medium or low pressure? Also, the other posts that I read for the instant pot said about 14 minutes. Can you clarift for me please?

      Hi Kat
This is actually for a Pressure cooker – so I am not sure of the settings for an Instant Pot – I need to get one so I can start sharing recipes for it. I am sorry I couldn’t be more help.
