Minnie Mouse Party Invitations & Decorations

My three year old LOVES Minnie Mouse. I think part of that is because Minnie loves pink and my daughter loves pink. She also dresses ‘fancy’ and has a cat, so my daughter can really relate :). For this reason we decided to do a Minnie Mouse Tea Party for her birthday – of course that was her suggestion so we are following through. We have had a lot of fun creating her Minnie Mouse party decorations and invitations with our new Cricut Explore Air. It is so easy to use, and I was able to create the shapes and have it cut them out, and have all of the pieces ready to put together in less than 30 minutes. It was awesome! Here is a taste of her invitations…

We made two smaller circles for the ears, and a larger circle for the head and then the pink bow. I used glue dots to put the pieces together and then I used patterned cardstock, folded it in half, and then attached the Minnie to it and cut around it so that it opened and kept the shape of the mouse. They turned out really cute and she was so excited with how they looked as well! There are so many options with the Cricut Explore Air because you hook it up to your computer and you can create your own designs, import images, use the free library and buy designs for very inexpensive. You can create a combination of writing and cutting and the Cricut takes care of it all.

When you get your Cricut Explore Air it comes with a project to do – and mine was a Telephone with the word Hello written on it. It was so fun seeing this and how it worked and how perfect all of the cuts were. It was even better knowing that it did it way faster than I could and it was a lot more fun than doing it by hand 😉

I have seen Cricuts for years, but didn’t think that I needed one. Now that I have one, I am wondering how I ever got along at all. I do so much crafting and scrapbooking, card making and decorating for my family and home that the Cricut has been able to save me a lot of time and money. I can make my own die cuts, cut out vinyl, fabric and more! It is really an amazing machine and being able to design what I want on the computer first is really fun. You even have the option to print it out and then have it cut – I have done that with my kids and some “paper doll” type things. They think it is awesome!

We have some fun holiday project planned that we will be posting about soon (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas) and even an Elf on the Shelf project you won’t want to miss! In the mean time check out Cricut and get one so you will be ready to do the projects with us. If you are looking for more fun and creative ideas, be sure to check out the Inspiration corner on the Cricut.com website. There are hundreds of projects that you will fall in love with, all with instructions.
