Fresh Fruit Salsa Recipe

I am really blessed to have four kids that love their fruits and veggies. It makes my job so much easier. In fact, there is very little that is a “struggle” at meals, so we are able to have a lot of fun with different ingredients and try new things. With that being said, I also like to have recipes that are quick and easy to make, especially for breakfast, because school is starting up again soon. One of their favorite things to eat is yogurt and fruit – so we made a Fresh Fruit Salsa to go with the Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups we found on the cereal aisle at Walmart. I love these yogurt cups because we just have to add cold milk (we used Skim) and stir and it is ready to eat and tastes AMAZING! My kids also loved having the Fresh Fruit Salsa on the side and I loved that they enjoyed a satisfying and delicious breakfast.

The Fruit Salsa is really easy to make. I got Bananas, Gala Apples, Strawberries, Grapes and Peaches and diced them all, combined them with about 2 tbsp. of white sugar and then stirred it all together. You can add about 1 tbsp of lemon juice to help keep the fruit from turning brown. You can also sprinkle some brown sugar to the mixture. It tastes so good!

Here is the recipe for Fresh Fruit Salsa:

  • 1 Gala apple
  • 1 banana
  • 8 strawberries
  • 1 peach
  • 15 grapes
  • 2 tbsp. of white sugar
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • Sprinkle of brown sugar

Dice all of the fruit into small pieces and mix together in bowl. Add sugars and lemon juice and stir. You can get really creative with this and add many different kinds of fruit. It is really delicious topped with Yogurt, or to use as a dip for Cinnamon Crisps.

We made the Quaker Real Medley’s Yogurts and served them with this fruit salsa and it was a great combination together or separate. You can also get or make Cinnamon Crisps (cut up tortillas basted with melted butter and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and baked at 350 degrees for about 7-10 minutes). They go well with it all too!

The Quaker Real Medleys Yogurt Cups are the first shelf-stable convergence of granola, fruit and yogurt. I love putting these in my pantry so that my kids can have a “Crunchy. Cool. Yum” snack and I don’t have to worry about it expiring in the back of the fridge. There has been Nothing like this before. They taste amazing and is the perfect blend of yogurt with multigrain granola, real fruit and crunchy nuts. These are a new product so be on the look out for them. They are perfect for back to school! They come in Strawberry Almond, Apple Cinnamon, and Raspberry Pecan flavors.

I love the idea of mixing the fruits into a salsa for the yogurt. Yogurt and fruit go so well together anyway. #client
