Being prepared with activities and crafts for kids while you are camping will make your trip so much more enjoyable. While you think that will be plenty for them to enjoy from nature itself, but kids also like to have some structured activities that will keep their little hands and minds busy.

We go camping every summer for about a week, and while we do spend a fair amount of time out on the boat fishing, there is still down time that needs to be filled and so I try to plan at least one activity or craft a day for them.
My top 5 Activities and Crafts for kids while you are camping are:
- Paint rocks
- Water coloring
- Nature hikes
- Make your own lanterns out of baby food jars
- Beading (bracelets, necklaces, bookmarks, etc)
Other fun things you can do if you need more activity and craft ideas are:
- Coloring
- Homemade binoculars (made with colored duct tape and tp rolls)
- Wind chimes
- Kites
- Make story book journal (draw a picture and write about each day you are there)
- Paint sun prisms
- Paint “camp” shirts
The thing to remember is that it is for them and to make them happy and feel good about themselves, so encouragement and smiles are the best. It doesn’t matter if they paint it perfectly or bead it in the right pattern. Just let them be them and it will turn out perfect to them which will make them happy and will make you proud. This is a great way to let their creativity fly free. I know my kids like to have free time to just wander and explore but it is also fun to have a sit down time where you do something together as a family.
If you have any activities and crafts for kids while you are camping ideas please leave them in the comments. I would love to hear what you think! (I am always looking for more ideas. lol. Thanks in advance!
