10 Back to School Traditions

I can’t believe that it is already time for the kids to go back to school. This year is going to be a lot different for me because my youngest starts Kindergarten and my oldest will be going to Junior High. While my kids are excited and ready to go back to school for another year (until they start getting homework, haha) I want to make sure that it is special and fun. We have a lot of great back to school traditions and I want to share some of them with you today. Thanks to SEARS for sponsoring this post. We were able to go online to sears.com and pick out some fun new things for back to school, like pants, shirts, shoes, socks, pajamas, and backpacks. I shopped for my two youngest (because they are the easiest to shop for without spending hours in the dressing rooms) and got them some new items to surprise them with. It was so fun to show them what we got.

I love having family traditions. Most people relate traditions to holidays I think, but that doesn’t always have to be the case.  We have traditions for a lot of things, and back to school it one that it just as fun as the rest. Here are 10 fun back to school traditions that we encourage you to try this year (and in the years to come):

  1. Picking out a few new outfits
  2. Getting new shoes
  3. Getting a new backpack and picking out school supplies
  4. Taking the “first day of school” photos
  5. Having a special breakfast
  6. Getting new haircuts
  7. Going out for Ice Cream the night before school starts
  8. Having a family movie night on the first weekend after school starts
  9. Make cookies or a special treat to have after the first day of school
  10. Go on a special vacation together as a family before school starts

I try and do all of these things with my kids each year, but some happen later or earlier than others. I love making the special memories with my kids and spending time with them as they grow up. It helps me to get to know them and be close to them as well as gives us the opportunity to spend quality time together. Shopping online saves us time and allows me to spend that extra time with my family. I can even order online and pickup at the store without even leaving my car! SEARS has everything we need to get geared up for back to school and my kids look stylish and fun. Check out the SEARS Back to School Catalog for more looks and ideas.

What are some back to school traditions you have or would like to try?

These are all great traditions. My daughter’s favorite is picking out her backpack. I just posted about some back to school tips over at my blog viewsbykelly.blogspot.com, hope you’ll stop by. Hope your kids have a great school year.
