I wrote this Transformers One Parents Guide to help you know what is in the movie. All opinions are my own.

It has been a while since I went to an animated movie that I liked as much as this one. Don’t get me wrong, Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4, and Kung Fu Panda 4, are all great – but most definitely animated in almost a cartoon sense (which is what they were supposed to be). When you watch Transformers One – you will see – it doesn’t feel like you’re watching animation. Everything about the cinematography makes you feel like you’re watching live-action.

What I appreciated most about the movie was that it didn’t waste your time. It gets right into the movie, capturing your attention, and here and there it gives you small flashbacks or important elements of the story that helped you to know these characters. Less than 40 minutes into the movie you are into the “meat and potatoes” of the film and it gives it time to really develop a great climax and ending. While there is a little language, the movie is 100% kid-friendly. I haven’t seen one kid out of the theater who didn’t love it.

The character voices were matched perfectly. Chris Hemsworth (Orion Pax), Brian Tyree Henry (D-16), Scarlett Johansson (Elita), Keegan-Michael Key (B-127), Steve Buscemi (Starscream), with Laurence Fishburne (Alpha Trion) and Jon Hamm (Sentinel Prime).

Transformers One is a fantastic movie and worth the watch in theaters. And with a runtime of almost 2 hours – you will not only become vested in these characters but leave wanting the release of another one soon…which I heard is already in the works – so fingers crossed.

Transformers One is only in theaters on September 20, 2024

Transformers One Parents Guide

Transformers One is rated PG for sci-fi violence and animated action throughout, and language. It runs for 1hr 44m.

There is one mid-credit scene and one end-credit scene for Transformers One. It is worth the stay to see both.

Sex & Nudity & Innuendos –  0/5 – None

Violence & Gore – 2/5 – war-like violence between bots and between aliens and bots. Because it’s animated and because they are bots it’s not as messy as it could have been. Not at any time was I like ewwww….but it does show a robot getting ripped in half out of anger. Another gets “branded” by being held down (this could be a little scary for young viewers).

Profanity – 2/5 – 6-8 uses of “bad-ass-a-tron” (most of them comical – expect your kid to want to walk around saying it). Use of God, hell, and maybe one or two others like shit – but maybe and only once each that I heard.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 0/5 – none

Frightening & Intense Scenes – 2/5 – FOR YOUNG VIEWERS: several scenes with fighting and attacks could be intense or frightening. And then the two things I mentioned above.

Other things to note – It does insinuate a bot flipping the bird – but cuts before he actually lifts his finger.

Transformers One is a FANTASTIC movie! I didn’t think I would love it as much as I do. I very much hope they continue to make at least two more so that the timeline matches up with the Transformers movie (2007).
