Jurassic World: Rebirth Parents Guide

I was able to screen Jurassic World: Rebirth in order to write this Jurassic World: Rebirth Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.

Leaving the theater after watching this movie, several people were giving mixed reviews. Complaining about this and that – but let me tell you – it’s exactly what you would expect to go see. Jurassic Park/World movies don’t need a “change the world” plot – they are meant to be fun, scare you, and have some laughs. And it did all those things.

The cast was great. They hit it perfectly. Sometimes I walk away thinking, ‘Eh, I wish someone else had played that role or they were annoying,’ but none of the characters were like that for me. Scarlett Johansson (Zora Bennett), Mahershala Ali (Duncan Kincaid), Jonathan Bailey (Dr. Henry Loomis), and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Reuben Delgado) all stood out big time to me. I loved the parts they played and felt they did a great job.

The CGI is phenomenal. It’s honestly hard to tell that they aren’t real-life creatures. I am also thankful that they aren’t lol. As for the overall storyline, there are a few different branches at the beginning that twine together and bring everyone to the forbidden island. I loved the family and felt like it really brought character depth and attachment that I wouldn’t have felt otherwise. You could say “been there, done that,” and for the most part, it is true. But they did it differently and well, so it wasn’t like watching the same storyline. It had some twists and turns, but overall was just really enjoyable and fun to watch.

In theaters July 2 – Jurassic World: Rebirth

Jurassic World: Rebirth Parents Guide

Jurassic World: Rebirth is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence/action, bloody images, some suggestive references, language, and a drug reference. It runs for 2hr 13m.

There are no end-credit scenes for Jurassic World: Rebirth.

Sex & Nudity & Romance –  0/5 – Non-sexual cleavage (low-cut shirts).

Violence & Gore – 3/5 – True to the Jurassic Park/World movies, there is a lot of violence and gore. People are dismembered, dragged off, eaten whole, chased, and attacked. While it doesn’t generally show blood flying and all that, it does show everything else, and it could be disturbing to younger or sensitive viewers.

Profanity & Blasphemy – 2/5 – 10+ uses of hell, 6+ uses of shit, 18+ uses of God, 1+ use of SOB, 3+ uses of damn, and 1 cut-off F bomb from Zora (Scarlett Johansson) towards the end of the movie.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 0/5 – People drinking alcohol. A reference to weed.

Frightening & Intense Scenes – 2/5 – I jumped a few times. They did great with the jump scares. Intense chase scenes. New mutant dinosaurs that are pretty intense.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is exactly what you would expect to go see. It is packed with jump scares, a good storyline, good characters, and a lot of fun. There were several nods to the original Jurassic Park, so be sure to watch for those. Overall, really enjoyed it and can’t wait to watch it again.

Jurassic World: Rebirth opens in theaters on July 2

About Jurassic World: Rebirth:

A new era is born. This summer, three years after the Jurassic World trilogy concluded with each film surpassing $1 billion at the global box office, the enduring Jurassic series evolves in an ingenious new direction with Jurassic World Rebirth.

Anchored by iconic action superstar Scarlett Johansson, Emmy and SAG nominee Jonathan Bailey and two-time Oscar® winner Mahershala Ali, this action-packed new chapter sees an extraction team race to the most dangerous place on Earth, an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park, inhabited by the worst of the worst that were left behind.

Also starring acclaimed international stars Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the film is directed by dynamic visualist Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) from a script by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

Academy Award® nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that had once housed an undisclosed research facility for Jurassic Park. There, in a terrain populated by dinosaurs of vastly different species, they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.

Ali is Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s most trusted team member; Critics Choice and Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, Bridgerton) plays paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (Homeland, Obi-Wan Kenobi) appears as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer, Murder on the Orient Express) plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family.

The cast includes Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) as Reuben’s family. The film also features, as members of Zora and Krebs’ crews, Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).

Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by BAFTA winner Edwards from a script by Koepp (War of the Worlds), based on characters created by Michael Crichton. The film is produced by Oscar® nominee Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, both longtime Jurassic franchise producers and of last summer’s blockbuster, Twisters. The film is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer.

Genre: Epic Action-Adventure

Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, Ed Skrein

Director: Gareth Edwards
