I am loving all things Farmhouse. Unfortunately, Farmhouse decor can get really pricy so I have been making my own decorations. This Farmhouse Shamrock sign was the perfect addition to my St. Patrick’s Day decor and I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out.

I am sharing the step-by-step instructions with you on how to make your own so you can have a great looking Farmhouse Shamrock sign to hang in your house too!

Making your Farmhouse Shamrock Sign

I got a fantastic unfinished plank sign from Oriental Trading. Then I found this great Shamrock inspiration here and got some chalk paint and I was ready to go! (You can get the printable version of the shamrock below)

Take some newspaper or a cover and put it under your plank sign. This will catch any paint that might drip through the slats, or from the edges.

Now you will take the white chalk paint and paint the slat sign so that no wood is showing on the front and sides. Don’t worry about the back.

I have shared the shamrock in a PDF printable file. It will print over two pages that you will have to cut out and tape together.

Once you have your Shamrock put together, you will use a pencil and lightly trace around it on the plank sign.

With the shamrock traced, you will now take the green chalk paint and carefully paint three-four coats of the green to fill in the shamrock. This took me about 15 minutes. I didn’t wait for it to completely dry in between coats.

With the shamrock painted green, you will now want to wait for it to dry before doing the outline and the words. OR you could stop here. Either way looks great. I just ended up using stickers to spell out KISS ME and I like how it worked.

This is a beautiful addition to your St. Patrick’s Day decor and really simple to make.
