Dinosaur Eggs Rice Krispy Treats (Hidden Surprise)

Over the last couple of weeks, we have shared Dinosaur Lava Cake and a Dinosaur Balloon Stomp (Tag Game. Both of these were a big hit at my son’s Dinosaur Birthday Party. We also made adorable Hidden Surprise Dinosaur Eggs with Rice Krispy treats. That is what we are sharing today.

These are easy to make and the kids LOVED them. So much fun. I just used a silicone cupcake pan (like this one here) and make the Krispy treats according to package directions. Then I put them into the pan and made sure to push down the middle as shown in the picture below.

Sidenote: Sorry I don’t have more pictures. My memory card crashed and I was only able to recover a few of them. 🙁

Once the treats have cooled, you can pull them out of the mold, and start filling them with M&M’s and plastic dinosaur toys. Then you will take another “egg” half and put it on top. It is really fun to see the dinosaur head poke out.

They enjoyed eating the treat and the snacks inside as well as having a fun dinosaur or two to play with. These are the dinosaurs that we used. These are fun to make any time as a treat for your kids, but especially fun for birthday parties or playdates.

The birthday party was great. I had so much fun with him planning it all out. My son also loves rocks and fossils so we decided to make that a big part of it. We also made these Dinosaur Fossil Rocks where we used salt dough and the plastic dinosaurs. The kids imprinted their own fossils and there were able to take them home. They are so easy to make and were a huge hit at the party!

Dinosaur Fossil Rocks

To make the Salt Dough you mix:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of salt

Then slowly add 1 cup of water a little at a time. Knead the dough for 10 minutes and then let it rest. Form dough into desired shapes and make the imprints, then bake at 250 degrees for about 2 hours. Then you can color them, etc.
