I was able to screen Argylle in order to write this Argylle Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.

The Argylle movie has been on my radar for a long time. Not only did the cast look great – which it is! – but the storyline intrigued me. I love reading and have even dabbled in writing, and my favorite genre is action/spy books. I will admit that the trailer did look a little cheesy in parts, but that is just another thing that drew me in. It has been a long time since I was able to go and enjoy a good CLEAN action flick that made me laugh. Go in with the expectations of being entertained by clean humor, a little cheese, and some really good plot twists and you will love every minute of this almost two and half hour movie.

Every person in the movie delivered on their part! Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, and John Cena were phenomenal – but my absolute favorite is Sam Rockwell as Aidan! He is so dynamic in this and hit it out of the park. Bryce Dallas Howard also delivered a rockstar performance and it was fun to see her in such a kickass role!

Argylle opens in theaters on February 2, 2024

Get your tickets now and go see this. I would say it is totally safe for kids 10 and up. There is a little innuendo here and there and one F-bomb (see the parents guide below), but overall pretty clean and SO MUCH FUN!

Argylle Parents Guide

Argylle is Rated PG-13 for strong violence and action and some strong language. It runs for 2hr 19m.

There is one mid-credit scene for Argylle. It is after about 30-45 seconds of credits, so stick around to watch it. When the main credits start rolling, you can head out.

Sex & Nudity –  2/5 – A couple of different scenes where dancing is shown. In the first one, a girl runs her hands down her body. It is short. This is in the first 3 minutes. The dance position looks inappropriate but nothing “sexual” is implied. There is a lot of cleavage from the women in the two gold dresses – one at the beginning and one at the end.

Violence & Gore – 3/5 – A lot of fighting, shooting with guns, knife fights, and other killing/injuring. There are explosions and several other things you would expect from a “spy” movie.

Profanity – 3/5 – Over 25 uses of God (used as GD, OMG, G, etc). Other uses (5 or less of each of) Ass, hell, SOB, shit, damn. 1 very bold F-bomb towards the end.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 2/5 – A lot of social drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes –  1/5 – Nothing was overly intense or frightening. Most of the fighting was laced with comedy and Sam and Bryce did a fantastic job of keeping the storyline interesting and moving.

Argylle is one of my new favorite movies in the action/comedy genre. There are just so many layers to it that it makes it fun to watch over and over. PERFECT movie for your date night – or even for Valentine’s!

About Argylle:

Argylle – In Theaters February 2

The greater the spy, the bigger the lie.

From the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise, Kick-Ass) comes Argylle, a razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller.

Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

Accompanied by Aiden (Oscar® winner Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.

The top-flight ensemble cast features Henry Cavill (The Witcher), John Cena (Fast X), Oscar® winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Grammy winning pop superstar Dua Lipa (Barbie), Emmy winner and Oscar® nominee Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Emmy winner and comedy icon Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and the legendary Samuel L. Jackson. Alfie is played by Chip, the real-life cat of supermodel Claudia Vaughn (née Schiffer).

Argylle is directed and produced by Matthew Vaughn, from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman). The film is produced by Matthew Vaughn, Adam Bohling (Kingsman franchise), Jason Fuchs, and David Reid (Kingsman franchise). The executive producers are Adam Fishbach, Zygi Kamasa, Carlos Peres and Claudia Vaughn.
