As part of my amazing experience in LA I was able to spend time at Disney Toon Studios. This is where we watched the screen of Planes: Fire and Rescue (which I absolutely love), meet and interview some of the amazing people behind the film like Bobs Gannaway and Ferrell Barron, Jeff Howard and Paul Gerard, Art Hernandez and Lawrence Gong, and several others.
On top of all that – we were able to spend time with Casting Director, Jason Henkel, and Sound Engineer, Paul McGrath and do a voice over in the “official” Recording Booth. I did the part of Dipper (played by Julie Bowen) from this scene in Planes: Fire and Rescue.
Hey! That’s my voice! It was so cool to do that and then watch and it and be like OH MY HECK! How exciting right? I showed that to my kids and they all went crazy and wanted to watch it like 15 times – even my hubby watched it over and over. I can’t wait to take them to see the movie soon! Now you saw what the movie looks like with my voice in it – here is a peek of what it looked like while I was in the Recording Booth at Disney Toon Studios.
While we were in there we were able to talk with Jason Henkel {Casting Director} and Paul McGrath {Sound Engineer}. They are amazing and funny and so great to work with. Paul is so patient and encouraging and explains everything. I loved listening them both talk about what it was like working with the cast of Planes: Fire and Rescue – but especially Julie Bowen. They said that she was way fun to work with. They would just give her the script and let her go and record everything because you never new what you would get.
It was so fun and a little intimidating to go in there and do it – but I cheated and went last in my group so I had it easier than some of the others. Once we did our voices Paul had the job of going through and matching up what we said to the way the movie characters “talked”, and he did such an amazing job.
