Growing up, there were many things that I dreamed of being. From a doctor to an astronaut there wasn’t much that I didn’t want to try. But in the middle of it all, I always knew that I wanted to be a Mom. It was just part of who I was and especially now, who I am. Seeing my own mother, and my sisters with their kids also ingrained a sense of motherhood in me that has never gone away. Finding out that you are pregnant is one of the best feelings in the world. How did you feel when you found out that you were pregnant? Who did you tell first?
I grew up – got married and after a year of being married we decided that we wanted to start our family. There is nothing that could have prepared me for the first time I found out I was pregnant. That giddy overwhelming feeling that I was growing a little person inside me, changed my life in an instant. Bringing life into the world, knowing I will be responsible for them for the next, well, forever and changing myself so that I would be a good mother to them.
I suspected that I was expecting, and so I got a Pregnancy Test and called my husband into the bathroom with me. He wasn’t quite sure what to think of the whole experience, but after we did the test and stood there together waiting to see the results, I remember the anticipation and the excitement. As we saw the results go positive, we laughed and cried and we were so excited to be parents, it was almost surreal to think about. We now have four kids and each of the times we found out we were pregnant were their own sweet and amazing moment that will stay with me forever.
Clearblue has made a really touching video about finding out about pregnancy:
So how do I feel about being a mom? There are so many things in my life that have changed since we have kids, and to honest I can’t imagine my life without them. Every change has been for the better. My life is happier, has more meaning and gives me purpose in life. My four angels are a blessing to us. We have miscarried twice, and even though they were hard experiences, I know that it is part of life’s experiences. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be a mom and that I have been blessed with four littles to take care of.
I would love to know about your stories and experiences and how you felt when you found out that you were expecting.
