Having kids is such a blessing in my life. I want them to be able to achieve their dreams, and have fun and be happy along the way. I know that it is not always sunshine but as a mom and a parent of four kids I can tell you that I am a huge influence in their lives – whether good or bad. I try to be the best I can so that I am a positive influence, but I am only human. I guess it is good that there are bad times so that we can talk about them and be more grateful for all of the good ones. Because I want them to be successful, happy and confident, I have done everything I can to help them with the things they have expressed interest in. From education to music, sports and even domestic things like cooking or learning to sew, I have been there to help them or put in a program that can teach them. When they learn things and become good at them, they develop confidence and I love to see them grow and learn. Even though they are a little different (my second oldest daughter has glasses and has had them since she was 5) they are still so much alike and love the same things. I am so glad that she didn’t let wearing glasses change her attitude because she has been excited to experience everything her older sister did and have the same opportunists with things like sports. I never really wore glasses but my husband does and so does a lot of my family members so they weren’t something that I saw as an impediment. With encouragement from us and good coaches and friends she has found that she really excels and a lot of things and with a good pair of glasses that help her see good, she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.
Having confidence is so important in kids – it helps them be leaders and make good choices. It allows them a freedom to try new things without worrying about being teased or failing and it also helps them become more responsible. I want them to be confident, kind and happy. I want to share 5 ways to help your child feel more confident:
- Always be encouraging, kind and helpful. Teach them through example.
- Listen to them and help them through their problems. Sometimes they just need someone to listen to, but you very often will have to be their champion.
- Understand that they are still learning and growing and be ready to teach them and talk with them about everything. Don’t make them fell bad about not knowing something.
- Put them into sports, dance, music, culinary or other programs that will give them a chance to learn new skills and help them feel a sense of accomplishment.
- Make sure they have nice (or nicer) clothes, glasses, and other items so they don’t feel out of place or get teased at school. Second hand stores and thrift stores have great selections of name brand clothes at a fraction of the cost.
My daughter is almost 9, and because she is so young and her eyes are changing so much, we have had to get her new glasses about once a year. This can be challenging for a busy mom who doesn’t have a lot of time to shop around for glasses then go back and get them fitted, etc, etc, etc. I needed an easier solution. I was so excited when I heard about Picklez by AC Lens because I knew that they would have what we needed. Since the glasses are geared towards kids ages 6-12,I knew they would be great quality so that I didn’t have to worry about them breaking or being cheaply made. We went on their website and I was really surprised at the selection for kids. The glasses are available in 11 on-trend styles and 36 vibrant colors. She had a lot of fun choosing the style and colors. With her prescription from the doctor we were able to easily order her size and style with the correct RX. It didn’t take long for the glasses to come and she was like a kid on Christmas morning opening the package. Each pair of glasses came in a nice case and they even included cleaner and clothes for the lenses. She has been wearing them for a couple weeks now and loves them all. She got three new pairs and enjoys being able to rotate them and change them based on her mood or what she is wearing. Getting new glasses used to be a pain, but we really love the glasses we got from Picklez by AC Lens. The quality and styles that they have combined with the affordable price point of $49.00 per pair, have made me a customer for life.
