If you have plans to see the John Carter movie this weekend, you will NOT be disappointed! I had the opportunity to go see a pre-release screening (in 3-D) and I can honestly say that it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I laughed (a lot), cried (a little), cheered, got excited and overall just had a great time. I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t say too much. Just know that it is one movie you have to see and if you can swing it, see it in 3-D.
I loved the 3-D for this movie because it wasn’t “jump out of the screen” effects that made it amazing, the WHOLE movie was in 3-D like you were standing there in the world with him. Very dimensional. I loved this movie and can’t wait to see it again. lol. It is not your average “alien” movie. In fact, I didn’t even know anything about it at all, going into the movie. It kept me on the edge the whole time.
I didn’t take my kids to it. I do not feel like it is not age appropriate for them. The younger ones wouldn’t understand everything going on and it’s important to be able to understand. My 7 year old would understand it all and probably like it for the most part, but there is quite a bit of fighting violence and the princess is dressed “sparingly” in a couple of scenes. While I am sure she would handle it fine, I think I am going to wait a while longer to show her. I do love that it has a strong female character (a heroine) and a strong male character (the hero). This gives you children something to connect to and look up too. Everyone will love Woola, (the alien dog).
The acting was amazing, the screenplay and special effects were amazing. John Carter is just a great great movie! Two thumbs up!
